Heidi Klum is a German model born on the 1st of June 1973. Erna the mother of Heidi was stylist. Gunther was her father, and a senior executive at an cosmetics producer. Heidi's father had earlier been an executive in charge of production for the perfume maker 4711. The city of her birth is Bergisch Gladbach (a city of around 100,000 inhabitants 6 miles to the from Cologne), Heidi was raised there. American-born German actress, TV hostess and former model Heidi Klum now lives in Southern California. Her friend (Karin) advised the young student of 18 to participate in a German TV talent show called Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra supported the show as part of Thomas Gottschalk's talk show. Klum competed against 25,000 contestants from all over Germany and Europe until she became one of three semifinalists. In April of 1992 Klum won the $300,000.00 top prize for modeling.

Her half-sisters are two brothers from both of her mothers' marriages. Alexander Martin (half-brother) from her first marriage with Dean Paul Martin.
